Privacy
Statement - updated 05/26/01
FindAnISP.com has created this privacy statement to reassure
our visitors of our commitment to your privacy.
Web Logs
Like all web sites, we have the ability to see which IP addresses
are used to visit our site, and which pages that IP address
visited, and at what times.
This information is useful to determine:
Advertising
From time to time, this website hosts third party advertising in the form of banners. By placing these banners on our web pages, your activities may be tracked by the advertiser. Please refer to the following privacy statements for details on how these parties collect and use data gathered from your visit to this web site.
Valueclick
For more information on what data is collected from Internet consumers through ValueClick ads please see their privacy policy statement at http://www.valueclick.com.
We do not disclose any information to third parties more
specific than the total hit counts for the site - the aggregate information is not personally identifiable. As of February, 2001, FindAnISP.com has entered into referral agreements with several ISPs which pay
FindAnISP.com a referral fee if you indicate to the ISP that you found out about them through our directory.
Some referral arrangements are automatic, as the ISP will place a cookie onto your PC to let them know how
you arrived at their site. ISPs which pay us a referral fee are identified as such in the directory.

Registration Process
As of March 18, 2001, certain new advanced features have been added to FindAnISP.com. These features are only made available to registered users of FindAnISP.com. In order to determine that the registered user holds a valid email account (not a throwaway account), a password is sent to the email account address entered during the registration process.
In the future (but not currently), certain information regarding ISP availability may be made to registered users, but only after receiving permission from the user. Until the "Opt in" process has been established, no email other than the one containing the password will be sent. Once the Opt In process has been created, those users who registered prior to that time will be asked to reregister and choose whether to participate in the opt-in mailings in exchange for the benefit of receiving the advanced features. From time to time, the software may require the user to update their registration based on information contained in one of the opt-in emails.
We will not provide your email address to any third party for any reason. Any mail sent to you based on your authorization will only be mailed to you by FindAnISP.com
Cookies
As of 5/26/2001, we are actively using cookies on the findanisp.com website. The cookies will be necessary in the near term future to implement the paid registration process. The use of cookies permits us to identify individual users and how they have navigated through to the ISP websites. Since getting the cookie required a confirming email, this means we know the email identity of all activities of registered users.
Cookies are also used to track user signups at ISPs. The registration process will require that the user accept and maintain a findanisp.com cookie in their browser. The "registered user only" functions will not be available to users who refuse to accept and maintain a cookie in their browser. Unregistered users are not required to accept a cookie, however unregistered users can only view the sponsored ISP listings.
