I am looking for a politically progressive ISP. Any thoughts or ideas where I can find this information?

IGC was the early prototype for what you're looking for: http://www.igc.org/ As of a few years ago, they stopped selling dialup access. Most ISPs that try to intertwine charitable, religious and/or political causes with selling internet access have fallen by the wayside. People seem to not want to comingle those things.

Another ISP from that some era that comes to mind is "Software Tool and Dye" (The World) http://world.std.com/ They claim to be the first commerical ISP in the world. However, they show few signs of political activism these days. It just isn't good business to alienate 49% of your potential customers.
